As we reached exercise 1.2 from class 11 Maths NCERT textbook, you have to learn the theory of Set as its symbols and notations that look usual in all the questions. It is usually represented in flower braces. In the questions here objects are being called an element of the set. Here, elements of sets contain things within them and it could be anything. This terminology is important because it will help you to recognize the questions. The sets having all the elements of a given collection is called the universal set and are represented by the symbol U.
The Empty Element in Class 11 Maths Exercise 1.2
The empty set is one which has no element. In class 11 Maths, if there is a set with nothing inside means it is a null set. It is a set with nothing inside. The Empty or Void or Null set is quite a unique concept and the definition is subtle that needs little thought. Initially in questions, you will be asked to answer from the above-given concepts such as empty set or void, Finite and infinite set, and Equal sets. For say, in a set {5}, braises contain the number 5 as an element. Set {5} is not a number but 5 is a number. Similarly if { }, doesn’t contain any number. It doesn’t mean it’s nothing, it is set with nothing inside. Note – Empty sets, null or void is indicated by a symbol ∅.
Finite and infinite sets in Class 1 Maths
Finite sets are easy concepts to understand. A set that has several elements and can be counted is known as a finite set. On the contrary an infinite set implies that a set contains infinite or uncountable numbers or elements. Definition 2 from NCERT Maths book is the well-elaborated concepts with its smaller points. This could be tricky to understand as students must include the example during preparation.
Equal sets and its properties
