As we reached exercise 1.2 from class 11 Maths NCERT textbook, you have to learn the theory of Set as its symbols and notations that look usual in all the questions. For say, in a set {5}, braises contain the number 5 as an element. Set {5} is not a number but 5 is a number. Similarly if { }, doesn’t contain any number. It doesn’t mean it’s nothing, it is set with nothing inside. Note – Empty sets, null or void is indicated by a symbol ∅.

Finite sets are easy concepts to understand. A set that has several elements and can be counted is known as a finite set. On the contrary an infinite set implies that a set contains infinite or uncountable numbers or elements. Definition 2 from NCERT Maths book is the well-elaborated concepts with its smaller points. This could be tricky to understand as students must include the example during preparation.
