More about Constructions
In the previous classes, we did some constructions using a ruler and compass, for example, bisecting an angle, drawing a bisector perpendicular to a line segment, some triangle constructions, etc. And they also gave their justification. In Class 10 constructions, we will study some more constructions using knowledge of previous constructions. We have also given mathematical reasoning behind why such constructions work.
Division of a Line Segment
If we take a line segment and we have to divide it in a given ratio. We may do it by measuring the length and then marking a point on it that divides it in the given ratio. But suppose we do not have any way of measuring it precisely, how would you find the point? In fact, here we will do the methods which work for dividing the line segment in any ratio. We also use the idea, of the construction of dividing into ratio, for constructing a triangle similar to a given triangle whose sides are in a given ratio with the corresponding sides of the given triangle.
How to construct a triangle similar to a given triangle as per given scale factor?
This construction involves two different conditions. In one, the triangle to be constructed is smaller and in the other is larger than the given triangle. Here, the scale factor means the construction of the ratio of the corresponding sides of a given triangle in chapter 6 of class 10 mathematics. In this section, we will learn how to construct a triangle similar to a given triangle which is based on the given scale factor.
How do we practice to score good marks in Class 11 Maths chapter 11 Constructions?
More and more practice, makes all doubts clear in case of construction of triangles or any other figure. Practice the questions of construction after a certain period of time. It will make you confident gradually. There is no short cut for chapter 11 of class 10 Maths, only practice can make your confident.
