Class 1 English Grammar Chapter 15 Conversation
What is Conversation?
The Conversation offers informed commentary and debate on the issues affecting our world.
Conversation is interactive communication between two or more people. The development of conversational skills and etiquette is an important part of socialization.
When do we use Who in the sentence?
Use ‘who’ when you are talking directly about the person who is doing something. Like the pronouns I, he, and she, who is the subject of the sentence. This is the person performing the action.
Examples:
- 1. Who is this?
- 2. That’s the girl who scored the goal.
What?
Use ‘what’ when you are asking for information about something. You can use what as a pronoun or a determiner. When you use what as a pronoun, it can be the subject, object, or complement of a verb.
Examples:
1. What a great job!
2. What a pleasant surprise!
3. What a talented girl!
How?
When in doubt, try this simple trick: If you can replace the word with “he”’ or “’she,” use who. Who should be used to refer to the subject of a sentence.
Examples:
1. How was the film?
2. How old is your grandfather?
