Preparing for the Mela

Nita and Radha were filled with excitement because the day of the mela had finally arrived. A mela is like a big fair where you can find games, food, and many interesting things. Nita and Radha needed to take a bus to reach the mela, as it was a little far from their home. Their father mentioned that they would be joined by their neighbors, Sneha and Rohit, as well as their uncle, Mohan Chacha, and his family. Everyone was eagerly preparing for the trip, and Nita and Radha even packed a special bag with things they might need at the mela.

Inviting Dadiji to the Mela
When Nita and Radha’s grandmother, Dadiji, saw how busy everyone was, she asked what was happening. The girls excitedly told her about the mela and invited her to join them. Dadiji was hesitant at first because her legs hurt, but after some convincing from the family, she agreed to come along. This made everyone very happy, especially the children. Nita’s father then reminded everyone to be ready on time so they wouldn’t miss the bus.

On the Way to the Mela

As the time to leave for the mela approached, everyone was ready and eager to go. Sneha and Rohit, who were Nita and Radha’s neighbors and close friends, joined them. The group walked carefully to the bus stop, making sure to watch for vehicles on the road. When the bus arrived, the conductor and Nita’s father helped Dadiji get on safely. The children were told to sit quietly and not to put their hands or heads out of the windows. The bus took them through the city, and soon they arrived at the big ground where the mela was being held.

Arriving at the Mela
When they reached the mela, they found that Mohan Chacha and his family had already arrived by autorickshaw. At the entrance, there was a map showing all the different stalls and attractions at the mela. They also saw an ambulance, a police jeep and a fire engine parked nearby, which made them feel safe. The group decided to get a wheelchair for Dadiji so she could move around the mela comfortably. The children were thrilled to see all the colorful stalls and games.

Exploring the Mela

The mela was full of exciting things to see and do. The children were overjoyed as they visited different stalls selling toys, sweets, and other fun items. They bought spinning tops, puppets, phirkis, and dolls. The girls also bought bangles and other pretty things. After shopping, they enjoyed rides on the merry-go-round and the giant wheel. Nita suggested they watch a magic show, which everyone enjoyed a lot. The mela was turning out to be a day full of fun and laughter.

Enjoying Food at the Mela
After all the fun activities, Mohan Chacha suggested they take a break and have something to eat. But before eating, he reminded the children to wash their hands properly. They enjoyed delicious snacks like gol gappas, chaat, chhole kulche, jalebis with rabri, and kulfi. The children made sure to throw all their waste into the dustbin, keeping the mela clean. It was a tasty and satisfying meal that made everyone happy and ready to continue exploring the mela.

Ending the Day at the Mela

As the day at the mela came to an end, the family started to head back home. Dadiji noticed a police officer with a dog, and the children excitedly explained that it was a police dog, trained to help the officers. On their way out, they talked about all the fun they had and the things they learned at the mela. The day was filled with joy, adventure, and lots of new experiences. It was a memorable trip for everyone, especially for Nita, Radha, and their friends.
